Sylvia Leporati, 68, had been suffering from knee osteoarthritis in her right knee for more than a decade. “It stopped me running,” she explained. “As soon as it was getting bad, I just stopped. I’ve suffered with it for over 10 years now.”

The pain gradually worsened, interfering not only with exercise but also with everyday activities like sleeping and climbing stairs. “I could live with it until probably about a year ago, when it stopped me sleeping,” Sylvia recalled. “That’s when you think, I need to do something with this soon.”

Sylvia first learned about Arthrosamid® after watching an interview on TV. At the time, she had been weighing up steroid injections but admitted, “I was at the point of, should I just get a steroid injection? Will that work? So I Googled it all, and saw what Arthrosamid® does, and thought maybe this is a better option.”

The process began with contacting a local consultant, who referred her to Dr. Craig Sheridan. She remembers being impressed by his thorough approach. “I went in thinking I’d have the injection straight away,” she said. The consultant carried out an X-ray and MRI first and believed the injection would benefit her.

When the day of the procedure came, Sylvia was surprised by how easy it was. “I didn’t feel it at all,” she recalled. “My husband was there, and I didn’t even know he’d put an injection in me. The only thing I felt was the tiny prick of the anaesthetic.”

As a sports therapist, Sylvia’s work is physically demanding, so she was disciplined about resting, even during her Zumba classes. “I sat in my chair and did it because I knew if I stood up, I’d join in,” she laughed. By the end of that week, the difference was striking: “It was massively improved.”

Within four weeks, Sylvia said she felt like she had a “new knee.” But then, misfortune struck when a dog collided with her in the park, causing ligament, tendon, and nerve damage. “I was gutted,” she admitted. “I’d gone four weeks with hardly any pain, then suddenly I had this massive pain again. But I knew it wasn't arthritic pain anymore.” After around twelve weeks, her knee stabilised, and the benefits of Arthrosamid® returned.

Since then, Sylvia has experienced a transformation in her everyday life. “I can sleep now,” she said.

“It used to wake me four or five times a night, but I don’t wake at all anymore. I can walk the dogs with no pain, and even went upstairs at my son’s house without holding on - I didn’t even realise until I got to the top!”

Horse riding remains one of Sylvia’s great passions. She recently enjoyed a trip to Montana, where her consultant, Dr. Craig Sheridan was amused by the connection between her hobby and the treatment. “He said, you know this was developed for horses originally, right? And there I was, back on a horse with it. It felt like a full circle.” Looking ahead, Sylvia and her husband are planning a riding holiday in Tuscany. “We’ve got to do it while we can,” she said.

She has no hesitation recommending Arthrosamid® to others. “The injection didn’t hurt at all. People say steroid injections really hurt, but I felt nothing. And even if it had only helped me sleep, that alone would have been life-changing. But it’s improved so much more.”

For Sylvia, the treatment has been nothing short of transformative.

“It’s given me back my sleep, my comfort, and the freedom to do the things I love.”
