Sylvia Leporati, 68, had been suffering from knee osteoarthritis in her right knee for more than a decade. “It stopped me running,” she explained. “As soon as it was getting bad, I just stopped. I’ve suffered with it for over 10 years now.”
The pain gradually worsened, interfering not only with exercise but also with everyday activities like sleeping and climbing stairs. “I could live with it until probably about a year ago, when it stopped me sleeping,” Sylvia recalled. “That’s when you think, I need to do something with this soon.”

Horse riding remains one of Sylvia’s great passions. And there I was, back on a horse with it. It felt like a full circle.” Looking ahead, Sylvia and her husband are planning a riding holiday in Tuscany. “We’ve got to do it while we can,” she said.
